Technology in My School

Picture

Technology! Most of us use it almost everyday. It's what helps us make life easier. There are so many devices we use in school but we probably don't notice it.

My school uses a lot of computer technology. Everyday, when I go to school, we have iPads every morning while we wait for our classmates, for every lesson when we don't understand something, or our teacher tells us to search it up. We also use different iPad applications to work on our school projects. We also have a computer lab where we learn ICT and do different computer projects. Our school also has two smart boards that are used by lower grades for different subjects.

Most of our homework involves technology and consists of writing, presentations and watching videos, and for all of those things we have to use internet and of course different computer applications like MS word, PowerPoint presentation apps etc. In school, we use applications like Coggle, Creative Writer, Canva, Powtoon, Prezi, StoryBird, Homestyler, VideofxLive and Windows Movie Maker, to name some.

And guess what am I doing now? Blogging which means I am using different applications to create my posts.

What about you? What different computer devices do you use in your school? Have you done any school projects using these devices? And what different applications do you use that you would like to share with me. Please tell me in the comment section below.

Hey Payson!

A lot of people have been saying they use chrome books that you could be able to fold over. I have a few questions about your school. Does everyone have a chrome book or is there only a few?

And my favorite device to use is the Asus Zenbook! ^^

Wow! Your school sure has a lot of technology! It seems much different from our school, which only has chromebooks (laptops), and smart boards. However, we do have a technology class, where we use various tools on the computer, and work with virtual reality goggles, a green screen, and a 3D printer. Do you think that all of your technology helps you with schoolwork more than if you did not have access to those same pieces?

Dear Nathan,

When you said your school had less technology I thought you meant there was nothing! That's still plenty of technology!

And yes I do think that all of the technology helps us a lot with school work. It helps us research and without that we might have to go all the way to the library just to find some simple questions. I hope i answered your question. ^~^

Hi Evan!

Wow! Every single kid has a Chrome book, my school would never trust us like that. Haha!

There are many cases that we didn't understand something and we had to search it up. One time we were learning about the Nile river, we were watching a video and they said the river was split into two parts, the blue and the white Nile. Our teacher asked us why is this so? We didn't know so she told us to search it up on our IPads or when we get home do the research. :D

There are many more times but I will only list one or else this will be a whole story. ^^

I will gladly check out your blog.

We must have to have some sort of device at home or else we would be dead! (Metaphorically) Almost all of our homework we have to do is with technology. ^^

At our school, we use chrome books. We do most of our work on the chrome books doing things like the student blogging challenge, taking tests, and much more. We each are assigned a chrome book that we get to take home to do homework. So far some class projects we've done are a group project about Mesopotamia and some hyperdocs where we answer some questions about the links provided on it. My school does homework on the Chromebooks and sometimes (Even if they are not supposed to) play video games. Wow, You use a ton of technology!! At my school we use Chromebooks (Small Laptops). All of the teachers have smart boards ( more like really big televisions). All of the teachers have a HP computer also (which are connected to the television). The iPad's you use, do you bring them home to do homework? At our school we are allowed to bring home our computers. Also at our school, if you have your own computer them you can use that instead of the Chromebook the school gives us. Also what is a ICT? I think your school would be a cool school to be at.

ICT stands for information and communications technology, which for use basically means computer class. We do a lot in ICT such as coding, typing and we also do projects on PowerPoint etc.

Mai Thao,
My favorite brand of technology is Apple. I use Firefox as my browser and DuckDuckGo (https://duckduckgo.com/) as my search engine. What is your favorite brand? What's your favorite browser? Favorite search engine?
Also, instead of using PowerPoint or Google Slides, you could use Prezi (https://prezi.com/) where you can make AMAZING looking presentations.
Another thing in the technological universe is attribution to media, which you can learn about in my post: alexandercgms24.edublogs.org/2017/11/06/attribution-and-licenses/

And I already learned about attribution a long time ago, maybe 2 years back, but I learned it in detail in my class about 1 month ago, but I would still be happy to check your blog. ^^

It seems like you use a lot of tecnology everyday. I go to DiVinci Academy of Arts and Sciences, everyday we use Chromebooks and we take them home with us so we can work on what we need to work on.

This is a great post about technology! In our school, we use chromebooks and desktop computers. We don't use ipads like your school. We have used Prezi as well. Our homework involves a lot of computers too! We do projects for PBL (Project Based Learning) and we use other programs.

Hey Mai Thao,
Like you, I am a millennial and modern technology is very present in my everyday life. My school has multiple different tools which range from: laptops, desktops, iPads, smart-boards and others.
With how much you use technology, do you find it monotonous or repetitive at certain points?
Sincerely, Christian

Hi!
I am hmskyla, and I think your post is great. I started off with an Ipad, but it was complicated so I switched to a computer. Yes I have made presentations on the computer. Most of my classmates use computers though some use Ipads too. Great job! Keep going :)

Hi Mai,

At our school from 6 grade to 12 grade, everyone is given a Chromebook(laptop) and the Chromebooks are our main device. The Chromebooks are even touchscreen. We need the Chromebook for almost all our class and most of our homework is done on our Chromebooks. So far I have done numerous school projects on my Chromebook. We don't really use any special application on our Chromebooks but we use Google Classroom, G-mail and Google Drive a lot. Do you think that using technology at school is actually useful?

Wow, I'm impressed by the amount of tech you guys use! If I was there, I'd go insane, since I love technology! At my school, we use Chromebooks, netbooks, smartboards - y'know just the traditional stuff. And as for the applications, we just use Google Docs and such. In fact, my 6th period science teachers is making us create and present biome slideshows. It's pretty much most of our grade.

Hey Mia, I am Nick. Your blog helped me realize how much my education related on education. At my school there are smart boards in every class, we are given Chromebooks (laptops) to help us with online homework, we are given ipads in tech class, and plenty other. I had a question though, do you think all these technology helps you learn and enjoy school more? checkout my blog on why I despise school, http://shimwaisd21.edublogs.org/.

Hey Mai Thao!
At my school, we use quite a bit of technology. We have smartboards or projectors in every classroom, we "have our own" laptops that we take home each day, and we use them a lot, too! If my school were to take all the laptops away, we would hardly be able to do anything! As for the iPads, we use them for certain projects, but we don't use them all that frequently. Sometimes, we are even allowed to bring our phones to school, but that almost never happens. Do you think that using technology makes people learn easier, or do you think that using a pencil, paper, and a textbook is the best way?

Thanks,
Connor

It's cool how you can use iPads in the morning. At my school if we have phones and a teacher sees it we get them taken away, but we do use chromebooks for some of our work. Great Blog!
